The Houston Astros joined Saving Animals and the City of Houston’s Bureau of Animal Regulation and Care (BARC) to produce the new 2007 Astros Pet Calendar that has almost sold out! Available now for $15 at www.savinganimals.org, proceeds from the fourteen-month calendar benefit Saving Animals’ Pet Adoption Center and the Astros in Action Foundation.
“The calendar has been such a success,” says Jill Borkowski, wife of Astros’ pitcher Dave Borkowski, “that we’re running out of our first print run, and many players and wives are already planning for the 2008 calendar.” No need to wait, however, the 2007 calendar features your favorite players and pets through February, 2008. Among the Astros lineup appearing in the calendar are Brad Ausmus, Brandon Backe, Dave Borkowski, Chris Burke, Jason Lane, Brad Lidge, Eric Munson, Chad Qualls and more.
Saving Animals provides veterinary, education and adoption services to help eliminate financial, geographical and cultural barriers that cause animal suffering. Sean Hawkins, Saving Animals’ President, says he is “committed to making Houston the first major American city where every pet has a permanent and loving home.”
The Astros in Action Foundation has been “Fielding the Dreams of Houston” since it was established in 2000 during the Astros inaugural season in Houston’s downtown ballpark. The mission of the foundation is to use the strength of the National Pastime to enhance the quality of life in the community through educational, health, and spiritual endeavors.
Thanks to special arrangements from the Petco Foundation, you can also purchase the Astros’ Pet Calendar at any Petco store in the Houston area!! |
