"Supporting the calendar project not only shows your support for compassion in professional sports, every dollar raised helps improve the community for both animals and people," Sean Hawkins, President of Saving Animals.
Now its second year in production, the wildly successful Houston Astros "Pets and Players" Calendar is available now! The calendars are printed in limited numbers and are proving to be a collector's item!

The Astros "Pets and Players" calendar is the result of collaboration between Saving Animals and the Astros in Action Foundation to help animals and people in the community. The concept is simple: The Astros' players team up with Saving Animals and pose for photos with either their own animals or homeless dogs and cats from HCPHES (the Harris County animal shelter). Photos are taken by famed Houston photographer Evin Thayer (who donates all time and materials) and Active Imagination designs a stunning calendar. These wonderful and informative 14 month calendars are only $15.00 and available through local Petco Stores, Saving Animals' Web site, The Shed at Minute Maid Park, and www.astros.com.

Thanks to generous underwriting from Bayer Animal Health, 100% of calendar sales benefit Saving Animals and the Astros in Action Foundation. This year the calendar includes a coupon for a free tube of Advantage flea control and information on the revolutionary resQ microchip for your dogs and cats provided by Bayer. We are very happy to report that every homeless animal appearing in both the 2007 and 2008 Astros "Pets and Players" calendars found a permanent home as a result of the calendar production!

Some of the players who appear with dogs and cats this year include Carlos Lee, Brad Ausmus, Brandon Backe, Mark Loretta, Jason Jennings, Woody Williams, Dave Borkowski, Adam Everett, Brad Lidge, Trever Miller, Chris Sampson, Roy Oswalt and Chad Qualls.

As soon as the calendars are printed, you'll want to get 'em while they're hot! A very limited number are printed and they are destined to be this year's "must have" holiday gift.

Supporting the calendar project not only shows your support for compassion in professional sports, every dollar raised helps improve the community for both animals and people.
