On Saturday, September 10, 2005, Saving Animals partnered with the City of Houston’s Bureau of Animal Regulation and Care (BARC) to launch what will become Saving Animals’ first permanent off-site dog and cat adoption center for adoptable animals from BARC at Northwest Mall in Houston, Texas. A total of 7 of the 8 dogs brought from BARC received terrific new homes!

The mall set up a white picket fence with green Astroturf near the center on the mall for our adoption area. Saving Animals provided animal transportation, set up, and most importantly, 6 terrific new volunteers. The event was such a success, that the mall manager wants us back every weekend! All who participated had a wonderful day helping BARC animals and many animals find loving new homes.

Homeless animals who end up at the City of Houston animal shelter do not have many adoption opportunities. By partnering with Saving Animals to create a permanent adoption center at Northwest Mall, our goal is to dramatically increase adoptions for BARC and help many hundreds of animals receive homes.

Permanent adoption days will begin at Northwest Mall on October 1, 2005. Volunteers are needed. Please contact Saving Animals’ volunteer coordinator Kathy Deffebach if you would like to help
